No is Not an Option

Sometimes, I don't take no for an answer. When you're armed with a camera you have to be sensitive to the fact that most people don't like getting their pictures taken. Though I have to say that the current generation doesn't seem to have that problem which is evident by the daily stream of self portraits I see on Instagram.

So when Brie came into my room the other day to snuggle with Belle, pointing out to me how cute they both looked, I took that to be an open invitation to snap a view photos of said cuteness. The fact that she stayed put as I went downstairs to get my camera was a second verifying fact.

Which is why I ignored her protests and continued to take a few pictures despite her complaints. After all, I don't post embarrassing or bad shots. After all, her room, cellphone and Instagram stream are filled with photos that I took.

After all, they did look might cute.

Random Wednesday

I'm making up Random Wednesday because I feel as if I should write, but I don't have a sense of what to really say. Here goes....

I call her our Lovey Dovey because she has such a sweet nature and she likes to lick to show her love. Brie named her Belle. She came into our life 2 years and 2 months ago. The animal shelter estimated her age to be a year when we got her. By the way she chewed stuff up, they were probably close. She no longer acts like a pup, which is a good thing, but it also makes me sad.

Took this shot at the preserve across from our church. I love how the road leads to nothing but light. It's like it's headed to heaven. I call it Up the Road Slowly, but if it did lead to heaven, I would be running towards the light.

For my Picture Black and White class, I was supposed to take a picture of repeating patterns. I felt stumped until I saw the curtains as I was getting ready to walk out the door. I know it may seem silly, but I like it.

Dreaming of the beach so I have to satisfy myself with this hazy photo that I took last week. I have to go back soon!

When we went to see my mom's cousin at the car show last week, I loved how Veronica let me take pictures of her freely. Afterwards she told me that it made her feel special.

That's what it's all about!

When Less is More

I passed by Brie's room on Saturday and she had Belle sandwiched between her legs, giving Belle a pedicure. On one hand I felt bad for Belle, on the other hand it looked so funny I couldn't resist running back to my room for my camera.

When I sat at the doorway with my camera in hand, Brie protested. I protested back...I'll just take it mainly of Belle, I promised, no one will even see you. Well, I lied. Yes, I took some in which Brie was mostly out of the frame, but the majority of them had her perfectly placed. Funny thing was, when I went to edit the pictures, I liked the ones in which you could only see part of Brie. I felt they were more compelling pictures.

Isn't this often the way it is with our answers from God. If we had our way, He would give us everything all the time, the second we asked for it. No, make that before we asked for it because he is God and he should know, right? But how many times do we look back and realize that He knew exactly what we needed. And it's always much better than what we thought we wanted.

Sunshine

I awoke to thick dark gray skies. It was cold. Colder than I could remember it ever being in April in Southern California. I warmed myself with a cup of coffee in my favorite mug. Belle stayed closed by my side.

The rain was not like Wednesday. It was dreary, trying hard to suck everything into its mass of despair. I didn't bite. I thought it was beautiful.

After a whole day of rain, I told myself I was over the sun and skies. I told myself I didn't need to take another picture of the sun falling down towards the earth. I told myself I had better things to do with my life.

I didn't even give it another thought, until as I was driving to the store, the sun started breaking through, beating back the thick gray clouds that had blanketed the skies all day long. I never made it to the store. Instead I basked in the start of the weekend by enjoying what the sun had to offer as penitence for being away so long.
